Silver Birch Portrait_4623 - Woodlands and Trees
Many years ago when I lived in Ampthill in Bedfordshire we used to walk our Alsatian Shelly over a heathland known as 'The Firs'. There was a particular area known as silver sands for it was covered in fine beach like silver sand and surrounded by coppices of glorious Silver Birch trees. I believe it may have been Silver Birch sapling that took my Dad and our neighbour Mick Powers out laying them flat on their backs when Shelley found this amazing stick! Then decided running straight between them with it would be a grand idea ;) Obviously in the dark Shelley's spatial awareness was somewhat lacking. Trying to run between two people carrying a 3-4ft sapling didn't do much for their balance!!

These beautiful Silver Birch were discovered on my first visit to Haughmond Hill. Beautiful place for a walk!
