Witch Rock_MG_0471 - Shropshire
Having stuggled and believe me it was a struggle, on the way I was passed by a jogger who must have been in his 70s of that I am certain. I still had not reached the top when he was on his way back down yelling at me it was worth the view when I got there.

He was right it most certainly was! I was busy taking this picture when another gentleman stopped me and asked what I was doing. Tripod up, huge Canon 5D full frame camera with a pretty bulky lens on top, cable release, light meter etc, I would have thought it was obvious but you would be amazed how many times you get asked when out in the field. Anyway I replied I was photographing the rocks.

"Why" came the confused response.

"Well they are pretty magnificent and this one is very magical for it has a trapped Witch in it" I replied

The gentlemen looked at me then at the rock obviously thinking 'We've got a right one here!'

Then he looked even harder and clapped his hand to his mouth

"Good God girl so there is! By jove (yes really) I have been coming here since I was a wee lad and I have never in my life spotted her before, good show!" With that he waved his stick in the air bellowed " Come on dogs" and was off. Leaving me with a scene from My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell though I confess he has more of a Brian Blessed stature wise. "Gordon's Alive!"

Witchy Crag can be found in Briar Ridge Books Shirelands with a brilliant poem by Hilary Jane Jones.
